A Non-Transferable Certificate of Title is provided to insurance companies authorized to do business in the State of Nebraska who have paid a total loss settlement due to the THEFT of a motor vehicle, ATV, minibike or motorboat. This provision is only available for a motor vehicle, ATV, minibike or motorboat that is properly titled and registered in a state other than Nebraska where the total loss settlement is a result of THEFT and the motor vehicle, ATV, minibike or motorboat has not become unusable for transportation due to damage or any malfunction beyond reasonable maintenance and repair.

To obtain a Non-Transferable title, the insurance company must present to the County Treasurer, a properly assigned foreign Certificate of Title and an Application for Certificate of Title. A Sheriff's Inspection is not required. The word “Non-Transferable” is noted on the face of the title under the designation “Title Type”.

The fee for a Non-Transferable title is $10.00. Please contact the County Treasurer for information regarding acceptable methods of payment. Refer to the County Officials Listing for contact information.

If a Duplicate Non-Transferable title is ever necessary, it may be obtained by submitting a completed  Application for Duplicate Title and a $14.00 fee to the County Treasurer in the county where the original Non-Transferable title was issued. Again, be sure to contact the County Treasurer for information regarding acceptable methods of payment.

A motor vehicle, ATV, minibike or motorboat with a Non-Transferable title cannot be sold, transferred, disposed of, or registered without first obtaining a regular Certificate of Title. To obtain a regular title, an application for title must be submitted to the County Treasurer with the Non-Transferable title, a statement from the insurance company affirming that to the best of their knowledge the motor vehicle, ATV, minibike or motorboat has not sustained any damage beyond regular maintenance and repair, and a $10.00 title fee.
