When registering an untitled trailer, one of the following documents must be submitted. The document required depends on the ownership and registration history of the trailer:
- Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO):
- The MSO may be issued directly to the consumer. It must include the trailer's description and all required ownership details.
- Certificate of Title:
- A properly assigned certificate of title indicating ownership transfer is required if trailer currently titled.
- Trailer’s Last Registration and Bill of Sale:
- Required if the trailer is a new purchase and no previous title has been issued. A copy of the last registration issued may be accepted (originals are not required).
- If last registration is not available, county treasurer’s office may verify seller, as listed on bill of sale, was last owner of record via a check of the title and registration computer system.
- Bill of Sale:
- Accepted for a trailer with no previous Nebraska registration.
- U.S. Military Registered Trailers:
- A valid U.S. Military Registration Document is required.
- Trailers Sold by the U.S. Government:
- Form SF97, a U.S. government-issued certificate is required.
- Untitled Trailer Affidavit:
- If no title, registration, or MSO is available, a notarized Untitled Trailer Affidavit must be completed and submitted to affirm ownership.
