Nebraska DMV and The Parent's Supervised Driving Program Celebrate Parents during National Teen Driver Safety Week

The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and The Parent's Supervised Driving Program announced today support for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) "5 to Drive" campaign. The campaign encourages parents  to talk to their teen drivers about one critical safe driving practice each day during National Teen Driver Safety Week.

Many changes to state laws become effective July 8, 2015, that will impact holders of Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs) and those applying for and upgrading CDL documents.

Beginning July 8th, all individuals applying for, renewing or upgrading their CDLs will be required to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful status.  A list of acceptable documents can be found on the Department of Motor Vehicles website:   www.dmv.nebraska .gov.  Click on Driver Licensing Services and follow the menu listing for the new requirements.

Thousands of teens and organizations from across the United States will focus on youth traffic  safety during Global Youth Traffic Safety Month. The Nebraska DMV and The Parent's Supervised Driving Program support this initiative, which was created in an effort  to encourage parental involvement in the teen driving Learner's Permit phase. The Program provides a resource to help parents make sure their teens are fully prepared to drive alone,once they receive their provisional license.
