New Account Processing Appointments
One-on-one assistance is available for new carriers with help registering for the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and/or the International Registration Plan (IRP). Applications are available at the MCS office, however, to expedite the process, complete as many of the forms in advance of your visit.
New applicants must come prepared with the following:
- A federal Identification number (FEIN).
- A US DOT Number for your company, or if running under another companies’ authority, their US DOT number and FEIN.
The Nebraska Combined IRP/IFTA Application is a required form and available when you arrive in our office. If you are able to complete this form prior to your arrival, the form is available here.
A title application is required if titling your truck/trailer for the first time. Along with the title application, you will surrender to the MCS staff the original title or Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO) signed over to you or your company.

A Nebraska Sales and Use Tax Form 6 is required for all new vehicle purchases. If you did not receive a Form 6 from the seller, a Form is available in our office. A copy of the bill of sale is required if the seller did not sign the Form 6.

If you previously had a registration on the truck you are adding to your new IRP account, and that truck was registered over 55,000 Combined Gross Weight (CGW), you will be required to submit a copy of the Federal Heavy Use Tax Form, 2290, to the MCS staff.

IFTA Tax Return Assistance Appointments
Whether it’s help with a specific fuel tax return, or you would like to better understand the fuel tax program, the MCS customer service staff is available to help. If your appointment is to complete a quarterly filing, you must come prepared with the totals from your fuel and distance summaries. If you do not have a tax return, a tax return will be provided at the appointment.
Keep in mind, the MCS staff will not compile the totals from your fuel receipts and distance summaries. If the totals are not provided at the time of the appointment, the appointment will be cancelled, and you will have the option to reschedule.

IRP Supplement Processing Appointments
Whether you are adding a truck or trailer, removing a truck or trailer, changing the ownership of a current vehicle, or you would like to better understand the IRP program, one-on-one assistance is available to help you with your IRP account. Depending on the change to your account, you will likely need one or more of the following forms. To help expedite your appointment, you may want to have the applications filled out as far as you’re able.
