There are special driver’s licensing rules if you are on active duty in the military and stationed outside of Nebraska. These rules also apply to family members of active duty military personnel. If your driver’s license was valid on or after August 27, 1971, your driver’s license is valid while you are on active duty and for 60 days following discharge or your return to Nebraska.
If you qualify for the military exemption, you may request a Form 07-08 from the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. Form 07-08 is a small card that you will attach to your driver’s license. (Note: Holders of a "Limited Term" driver's license do not qualify for the military exemption.)
To request a 07-08 card, send to following documents to the Department at the address, fax number, or email indicated below:
- a signed and dated request*;
- a readable photocopy of your Nebraska driver’s license; and
- a copy of your current military orders;
