There are two types of Transporter Plates.
You will first need to determine which type best fits the business you conduct.
To obtain Transporter plates an Application for Transporter Plate must be submitted to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Applications must be completed correctly, in full and be legible or they will not be processed.
- The Department must be able to verify that the applicant is engaged in the business indicated on the application form or the application will not be processed.
Once the application has been verified and approved, it will be processed and the applicant will be issued the plate, registration and validation decal. Applications (be sure to include the appropriate fees) may be submitted by mail or in person to:

Transporter Plate Fees
Transporter plates are issued for a calendar year and therefore expire in December of the year of issuance. Renewal postcards are sent out at the end of November.
Transporter plates may only be used for transporting vehicles that fall under the definition of Type I or Type II as indicated above. They are only to be displayed on the front of a driven vehicle of a lawful combination, such as a truck/trailer combination, or a vehicle driven singly, or on the rear of a trailer being pulled.
*New plates are issued in Nebraska every six years. The next new plate issuance is January 2023.
