Service members who are currently licensed and who are or were within the past year (12 months) in a military position requiring the operation of a military motor vehicle equivalent to a commercial motor vehicle may use the CDL skills tests waiver form. This waiver allows a qualified service member to apply for a CDL without skills testing. CDL written test(s) cannot be waived. Download the Military Waiver form or get one at any Driver Licensing office.
The transfer of School Bus (S) and/or Passenger (P) endorsements under this waiver program are prohibited.
To complete the process, scan and email the waiver to dmv.cdlcompliance@nebraska.gov. A DMV representative will review the document and respond to you via email within three business days if your waiver is approved. You will then be given instruction to see a DMV examiner in-person to apply for the CDL.
